IAS Prelims 2014 was conducted on the 24 August 2014.  It comprised the Comprehension, Logical Reasoning and Analytical Ability, General Mental Ability, Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc.), Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc.), and English Language Comprehension skills. Candidates were required not to attempt the English language questions that were six in number. So this year the total number of questions became 74. This year questions from Decision making were dropped. All questions were carrying negative marking for wrong answer. IAS Prelims General Studies Paper II (CSAT) was comparatively tough this year.
